With today's technology, a root canal (endodontic therapy) can be a painless procedure, no more complicated than having a large filling. Our practice specializes in endodontic therapy and we are dedicated to making sure your experience with us is a positive one. Our goal, of course, is to ensure a successful outcome, and your comfort during the process is our number one priority. With patience, kindness and top technical skills, my staff and I are able to treat even the most apprehensive patients successfully.

What is Endodontic Therapy?
A root canal is needed when tissue becomes diseased or damaged due to decay, deep fillings, trauma/fracture or periodontal disease. While some people experience pain or other symptoms of the damage, others may have no discomfort at all. Endodontists are trained in advanced nonsurgical and surgical skills to alleviate pain and eliminate potential sources of infection to save the damaged tooth. They remove the damaged tissue from inside the root canals of a tooth and replace it with a filling material. Not every tooth can be saved, but the chances of success are very good using today's techniques.

What Can You Expect?
We are proud to provide our patients with the latest techniques and state-of-the-art equipment, including computerized digital radiography. In most instances, treatment can be completed in one visit of an hour or less, but longer or multiple appointments are sometimes necessary for cases that are more complex. Most people are able to resume their normal daily activities following treatment, with minor discomfort at most. Once your endodontic therapy is complete, you will need to return to your general dentist for a filling or a crown. When your dentist refers you to our office for endodontic therapy, we make every effort to schedule an appointment in a timely manner and we do our best to accommodate emergencies.

A root canal procedure is painful.
Root canal therapy doesn't cause pain, it relieves it. Toothache can be caused by damaged tissues. Endodontic therapy removes the damaged tissue and alleviates pain. With the latest technologies, treatment today is no more uncomfortable than having a tooth filled.
